about
Who In War is written from the perspective of someone who is perpetually online, someone who begins to think they can change the world all by themselves, and develops a god complex. I wanted to explore this idea through lyrics because I think it’s completely bogus, there is no sustainable change without community action. But I think that it can become pretty easy to fall into thinking that you’re “special”, and that you can do everything yourself.
lyrics
Who is my
Avatar tonight?
Can I be free
With a mind besieged?
I’ll begin
My armoured life
Again
Can I win
In new skin?
Who in war
Lives a life of wonder?
Who in war
Has the heart to breathe in?
Choose to go
As an act of treason
This day’s loss
Is tomorrow’s reason
Live a new life
(Who in war
Could reset the seasons?
End it all
In the name of freedom?)
Who is my
Alibi tonight?
Just give me the gun
And say I’m right
World in need
Can I set you free?
Yeah it’s best
If it’s all on me
Who in war
Knows the shame of needing?
Who in war
Has the heart to breathe in?
Choose to go
As an act of treason
This day’s loss
Is tomorrow’s reason
Live a new life
(Who in war
Could reset the seasons?
End it all
In the name of freedom?)
Who in war
Has the heart to breathe in?
Choose to go
As an act of treason
This day’s loss
Is tomorrow’s reason
Live a new life
(Who in war
Could reset the seasons?
Lose it all
From one hesitation)
Where is your
Hidden purple heart?
Is it a myth
A goal or start?
I can’t believe
All of you could feel
Any guilt
From the lives you steal
Who in war moves on without reason?
Shock and awe as a mask to feeling
Can’t fall down with your balance even
By your side, fight on as you’re bleeding
Where is my avatar tonight?
Just make me the god that you write
